As part of California's Weed Awareness Week July 17 - 23, 2006, the Carlsbad Watershed Network's 2006 Weed Warrior Awards recognizes the exemplary efforts of individuals, companies and organizations in their efforts in the prevention and eradication of invasive plants in the Carlsbad Watershed. Tanya Wolters from Assembly Member Mark Wyland's office, Caroline Smith from Supervisor Bill Horn's office, and Aaron Byzak from Senator Bill Morrow's office and Doug Gibson, Executive Director of presented the awards on behalf of the CWN:
This is the second year that the Carlsbad Watershed Network announces NIIMBY ("No Invasives In My Back Yard") recipients of the Weed Warrior Award. The Weed Warrior Award is given to cities, agencies, and non-profits, and individuals who actively support the effort to rid the Carlsbad Hydrologic Unit of invasive plant species and who further the mission and goals of the Carlsbad Watershed Network clean water and natural habitat within the Carlsbad Hydrologic Unit. With the Weed Warrior Award, we hereby thank and recognize their support, contribution, and hard work on behalf of all of residents.
The Statewide Celebration of California Weed Awareness Week, July 17-23, 2006 is celebrated the third Monday of July as a result of the June 2003, the CA State Legislature adopted resolution (ACR No. 114)
